• Ringworm is a Fungal Infection of the skin. It is a burst out condition of the skin , mostly Contagious.
• It is also called as "Dermatophytosis" or 'TINEA'
• According to Ayurveda this condition is called as 'DADRU'- is due to predominant vitiation of Kapha & Pitta which leads to the impurities in the blood.

Common Symptoms-

• Red, raised circular patches on the skin
• Ringed patches of small blisters
• Excessive Itching
• Depending upon the site the lesions are named as- Tinea Corporis(Body), Tinea Versicolor( neck),Tinea Capitis(Scalp), Tinea Faciei(Face) & so on.

Causative Factors-(According To Ayurveda)

• Incompatible Food(wrong food combinations)
• Excessive intake of Sea Food, Black Gram
• Heavy Food Intake
• Intake of Sour curd, Tamarind, Tomatoes, Lemons in excess for long period of time.
• Excessive Sweating
• Hot & Humid Climate

Treatment-

According to Ayurveda Vitiation of Three Doshas mainly aggravation of Pitta & Kapha causes this condition, so main treatment is to pacify these two Doshas. Also any skin condition is due to the impurities in the blood,so the purification of blood (RaktaShudhi)is very Important.

Sex-Female

Age-45 yrs

Complaints-

• Patient got circular red patch with tiny blisters on the hand , patch was extremely itchy. Circular lesion was with sharp margin with raised edges.(as seen in photo below)
• within one week it got spread on stomach & thighs as well.

History-

• Patient's skin is very dry and has H/O skin disease  in her 20's
• Patient's constitution is Pitta , recently ate a lot of Mangoes and outside food that eleviates Pitta.

Ayurvedic Approach-

     According to Ayurveda Vitiation in three Doshas mainly aggravation of Pitta & Kapha Causes this condition.  Also Any skin condition is due to the impurities in the blood,  so the Purification of Blood( Rakta Shudhi ) is very important.

Patient was on Internal Medicines like Manjishtadi Kashyam ,Aragwadhadi kashyam,  Mahatiktha Grhitam that pacifies three Doshas and also helps to purify blood.Also adviced to  apply medicated oil locally.

Patient was following strict Diet.

1st week- Flaring of condition stops, Itchiness reduces

2nd week-Redness, sharp margins & blisters fade off ( as seen in photo below)

3rd week-Skin condition was completely cured(as seen in photo below)
