In Sanskrit &#8220;yashti&#8221; means stem or stalk and &#8220;madhu&#8221; means sweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Common names<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Botanical: Glycyrrhiza glabra<br>English: Liquorice<br>Hindi: Mulathi<br>Tamil: Athimathuran<br>Malayalam: Irattimadhuram<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yastimadhu is referenced in classical Ayurvedic literature in the context of Vata and Pitta patterns. It is traditionally included in several classical Ayurvedic formulations and is also used in other traditional systems of herbal practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note on safety<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liquorice taken in large amounts for prolonged periods may affect electrolyte balance and may interact with certain medications.
