Originating from the ancient healing system of Ayurveda, which translates to “knowledge of life,” Shirodhara is a Sanskrit term composed of two words: “shiro” meaning head, and “dhara” meaning flow. Together, they describe the continuous pouring of warm herbal oil or other liquids onto the forehead in a rhythmic and steady manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shirodhara typically begins with a consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner who assesses the individual’s unique constitution (dosha) and health concerns. Based on this assessment, specific oils, herbs, or liquids are chosen for the treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the therapy, the individual lies down on a comfortable table or mat while a specially designed vessel called a “dhara pot” is positioned above their forehead.
