Infertility may result due to issues in either or both of the partners.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ayurveda, infertility is referred to as \u201cVandhyatva\u201d. A woman whose Artawa (menstrual cycle) is perished is called Vandhya.\u00a0Male infertility is called \u201cShandatwa or Napumsakata\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Types of Infertility:<\/h2>\n<p>There are two types of infertility namely primary infertility and secondary infertility.<\/p>\n<h3>Primary Infertility:<\/h3>\n<p>Primary infertility refers to couples who are not able to conceive after at least one year of unprotected sex (intercourse).<\/p>\n<h3>Secondary Infertility:<\/h3>\n<p>Secondary infertility refers to couples who are able conceive at least once, but never again.<\/p>\n<h1>Causes for infertility:<\/h1>\n<p>Infertility may be due to male or female factors. In Ayurveda, main cause for any abnormal function in body is Agnimandya (vitiation of the digestive fire of body) and tridosha dusti (vitiation of three elements of the body).<\/p>\n<h2>For Female:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Ovarian factors<\/li>\n<li>Tubal factors<\/li>\n<li>Age related factors<\/li>\n<li>Uterine problems<\/li>\n<li>PCOS<\/li>\n<li>Endometriosis<\/li>\n<li>Adenomyosis<\/li>\n<li>Endocrine disturbances<\/li>\n<li>Stress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>For Male:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Abnormal sperm production or function<\/li>\n<li>Problem with the delivery of sperm<\/li>\n<li>Premature ejaculation<\/li>\n<li>Over exposure to certain environmental factors<\/li>\n<li>Excessive smoking<\/li>\n<li>Alcohol intake<\/li>\n<li>Deskbound work<\/li>\n<li>Stress<\/li>\n<li>Loss of libido<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These factors can be affected by diet, emotional instability, excessive physical exercise, life style and stress responsible for creating an imbalance of the dosha.<\/p>\n<h1>Four essential elements of fertility:<\/h1>\n<p>Optimal functioning of the below listed four elements is essential based on Ayurveda.<\/p>\n<h2>Timing (Rtu):<\/h2>\n<p>This is a well-known aspect and most people try to focus more on this element. Generally, following female menstrual cycle gives an idea about ovulation. Following the rules of nature, Spring can be a better season for fertility.<\/p>\n<h2>The field (Female reproductive system \u2013 Kshetra):<\/h2>\n<p>Healty female reproductive organs like uterus, ovaries, fallopian tube are an important necessity for consumption.<\/p>\n<h2>Ambu (Health and nutrition fluid):<\/h2>\n<p>The role of vital fluids like plasma, lymph and blood cannot be ignored. In addition, amblical cord and amniotic fluid in the fetal development plays an important role.<\/p>\n<h2>The seed (bheeja \u2013 ovum and sperm):<\/h2>\n<p>Quality of sperms and egg are considered as the most complete tissues and thus need to be given at most attention for fertility.<\/p>\n<h2>Miscellaneous factors:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Proper functioning of vata<\/li>\n<li>Physically and mentally healthy partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Treatment:<\/h1>\n<p>Panchakarma treatments will correct agni by eliminating ama.
